The Hume Presbyterian Church looks to deal with the ever changing landscape of present day culture. In a world where values, integrity and spirituality are seen as remnants in the parched world of post-modernity, there is a place where you can find refuge and be refreshed and revived. It is found here in a fellowship of believers who take their life from the one who is the Living Water of the Christian Faith.

What happens at The Hume Presbyterian Church?

  • People come together to meet and fellowship
  • People come together to get answers on how to live life
  • Opportunities to serve others
  • Opportunities to develop gifts, skills and abilities
  • People get serious about God and experience Him

How is The Hume Presbyterian Church different from other Christian churches?

  • Most churches simply try to "attract" people to come to them
  • They seek new people with various programs, ideas, & changes--all of which are designed to bring people from the world into the church
  • Such "attractional churches" often have little interest or understanding of post-modern people
  • This leaves a great proportion of the population relatively untouched by current churches
  • We seek to bring Jesus to where these people are--not the other way around
  • By going to where people are...and presenting Christ to them, we then encourage new believers to meet with their friends...where they are
  • This makes for the possibility of new congregations located in several different places to focus more effectively on particular cultural subgroups
  • The Hume Presbyterian Church works on the principle of small groups dynamics
  • We are a "missional" church which means we try to always focus everything we do on telling people about the Good News of Jesus Christ

How is The Hume Presbyterian Church similar to other Christian churches?

  • We still operate within the authority of God's Word in Scripture
  • We are seeking to bring about changed lives in people
  • We still gather together to worship and praise God
  • We still practice the sacraments of Baptism and the Lord's Supper
  • We seek to build mature Christians who will interact in their community and bring along others in faith
