"But the noble man makes noble plans, and by noble deeds he stands."
Isaiah 32:8
We believe that the Hume Presbyterian Church should exist in any given human social context as a haven of rest and comfort in a lost and dying world. We therefore seek to set up ministries of our church wherever people congregate or gather for the purposes of human interaction within the geographical boundaries of the northern suburbs of Melbourne set by the Presbytery of Melbourne North. Our purpose is to be a caring, relational community of people who want to develop as disciples of Christ.
We believe in the primacy of preaching the Good News of Jesus Christ to those who are non-Christian. The focus of all our ministries and activities is directed at presenting the Christian life that is found in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We seek to share this Good News with those who are lost and enfold them into the Body of Christ which is our church.
We believe that all who come into contact with our church should have the opportunity to have their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs met within the wider structure of this community of believers. We believe this will happen as they are taught the full counsel of God through the mentoring and discipling process. They themselves can grow and mature, eventually becoming effective leaders, disciplers and mentors of others.
We would express our commitment to the Scriptures and the Gospel itself, as it is understood in the Reformed heritage of the Westminster Confession of Faith and it's Catechisms, as well as to the government of the Presbyterian Church of Australia and Victoria.
